The mission of the SDDOT is to provide a safe and efficient public transportation system. To plan for improvements to biking, walking, and access to transit in South Dakota, the Department of Transportation is seeking public input on active transportation.

Project Goals

  • Develop a comprehensive look at bicycle and pedestrian transportation on state highways.
  • Prioritize new projects and maintenance needs.
  • Identify opportunities for additional safety and access.
  • Identify opportunities for planning, funding, and implementation.

Key Considerations

  • Active transportation refers to biking, walking, and access to transit.
  • For this SDDOT plan, we are only seeking input on active transportation for State Highways.
  • Prior to taking the survey or commenting on the map, reflect on how and where you currently utilize active transportation. What is preferred? What are the limitations?
