The City of Saint Peter is seeking input from residents and park users to hear the wants, needs, and ideas that community members have for an engaging park system that serves Saint Peter. The Parks Master Plan will be created from this feedback, resulting in a guiding document for future development and redevelopment of the City’s system of parks, green space, pedestrian facilities, and recreation over the next 15 years (2024–2038).

Project Goals

Overarching objectives of the planning process include:

  • ECONOMIC – Develop efficient, low-maintenance recommendations, as well as explore opportunities that create a sense of place and economic development for an enhanced quality of life.
  • CULTURAL – Identify opportunities to capitalize on existing infrastructure and amenities that connect Saint Peter to the greater area and its cultural and historical heritage by integrating public art, cultural events, and interpretive programming.
  • SOCIAL – Preserve the sense of place by connecting Saint Peter and the greater area through integration of public art, community events, and interpretive programming. Enhance livability and fun for community members while accommodating growth and the evolving recreational and social trends of the Saint Peter community.
  • EQUITY – Engage a growing diverse community, ensuring just and fair quantity, proximity and pedestrian connections to quality parks and green space, recreation facilities and programs throughout the community now and into the future.
  • ENVIRONMENTAL – Enhance biodiversity with native plantings, pollinators, and community gardens, while planning green infrastructure, habitat, and erosion control solutions to address climate change, minimize maintenance, improve water quality, and reduce flooding.

Key Considerations

We appreciate your time completing the survey and providing input on the future of Saint Peter’s parks, trails, and recreational programming. Your input is critical to the plan’s success. We welcome all ideas—big and small.

Consider the following as you share your thoughts:

  • How do you use Saint Peter's parks, trails, and facilities now? What amenities and features would make you use these spaces more often?
  • What should or should not be prioritized when planning the future of Saint Peter's parks, trails, and facilities?
  • What events, experiences, or programming would like to see in Saint Peter?
