West 3rd Street Closure: July 7–July 9

College Ave Closure: July 10–July 18

The City of Storm Lake is launching an important infrastructure project to replace the aging lift station near College Avenue and West 3rd Street. Construction is scheduled to begin in June 2025 and will continue through April 2026.

This upgrade is a key part of our ongoing effort to maintain reliable public services and protect long-term infrastructure. The current lift station has exceeded its useful life. Replacing it will help:

  • Prevent service interruptions
  • Increase sewer capacity
  • Reduce maintenance costs
  • Minimize odor in the area

To ensure public safety and keep the project on schedule, temporary road closures will be in place during construction. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to improve essential infrastructure in your neighborhood.

Project Goals

  • Replace the outdated lift station
  • Improve wastewater infrastructure to: reduce odors, prevent future service disruptions, increase sewer capacity, and lower maintenance needs
  • Complete the project on time and on budget
  • Relocate and landscape the new lift station to minimize visual impact

Project Updates

The Contractor is anticipating construction beginning on June 2, 2025 and construction will require a road closure of College Avenue and 3rd Street in the immediate project area. It is anticipated that the initial road closures will be in place until July 11, 2025.

Check back regularly for construction updates, road closure notices, and project milestones.
