The City of Le Mars is updating the Le Mars Community Development Plan. Originally finalized in 2023, the Plan has guided public and private investment decisions across the community. As Le Mars continues to grow and evolve, the City is refreshing the Plan to better reflect current needs, priorities, and opportunities.

Maintaining a relevant and responsive Plan helps align future development with economic trends, community values, and long‑term goals. This update will support informed decision‑making, responsible investment, and the vision that has shaped Le Mars to date.

Community participation is essential to aligning the Plan with the needs of those who live and work in Le Mars. The City invites residents and business owners to share their input by completing the Community Survey linked below.

Project Goals

• Recognize progress achieved since adoption of the Community Development Plan in 2023
• Update the community vision to reflect current priorities, conditions, and aspirations
• Identify new opportunities, policies, partnerships, and implementation tools that build on Le Mars’ continued success
• Gather community input to inform Plan updates and future development decisions
• Solicit feedback on opportunities identified by City Council and the Le Mars Business Initiative Corporation (LBIC) during the joint workshop

Vision Statement

The City Council and LBIC developed the following vision statement to be responsive to community feedback and provide a framework for Le Mars investments.

Le Mars is a thriving community to live, work, and play. We do this by:

• Supporting a safe, family-centric community through quality of life amenities
• Ensuring housing options meet community needs and support strong, connected neighborhoods
• Strengthening the community through retail opportunities that promote economic vitality
• Cultivating quality employment opportunities that support a balanced workforce
• Ensuring infrastructure has the capacity to support growth
