Bryan Paulsen, AIA, CID, LEED AP was a dedicated Minnesota architect who devoted his career to shaping spaces that bring people together. Whether sketching a concept for a client or mentoring rising architects, his work reflected a commitment to enriching the lives of those around him. Bryan’s career spanned over 40 years and left an indelible mark on Mankato and the surrounding region where he became a respected and admired figure in the community. Alongside his wife and life partner, Tami, Bryan took great pride in his professional achievements and family life.



About

The Bryan Paulsen Legacy Scholarship aims to carry on Bryan’s legacy as a respected and admired architect who connected people through design. This scholarship honors his commitment to higher education and enduring influence by investing in the next generation of architects. Dedicated to the same principles that defined his life and career, it supports second-year and above architecture students who embody his values of mentorship, community impact, and design excellence.

  • Second, third, fourth, or fifth year enrolled in an accredited architecture program
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • A student of good standing with character that is reflective of Bryan’s legacy
  • Referral by an ISG employee owner is preferred, but not required

To complete the scholarship application, please be prepared to provide the following:

  • Full name and contact details
  • University, year of study, major, and GPA on your transcript

Supporting Documents

These will need to be uploaded in PDF format with your application:

  • A current academic transcript
  • Three to five sketches showcasing your design work

Short-Answer Responses

You will be asked to submit responses (maximum 250 words each) to the following prompts:

  • What excites you most about becoming an architect?
  • How will you carry forward a tradition of mentorship, community impact, and design excellence in your architecture career?
  • Application Opens: March 15, 2026
  • Application Closes: May 15, 2026
  • Review period will begin after May 15, 2026
